A lovely article from a gentile bygone age. These sandwich tongs, which are decorated with engraved strawberry leaves, were made by the Sheffield silversmiths Jehoiada Alsop Rhodes and Barber. They were only active from 1878 until 1886, so we can safely date them to around 1880. They have a pattern registration mark for 1878.
